Mocha Cocoa Gift In A Jar Recipe

I found a recipe for Mocha Cocoa Gift in a Jar over at myrecipes.com that sounded really good but I would adjust to use stuff you already have on hand. Also we thought the coffee was too strong. Here is my version of Mocha Cocoa.

Hi! Thanks for sharing this. What size jar do you use for the gifts? Will this recipe fit into a quart jar?

    Thanks!

Angela the whole recipe can be put in any air tight container – about 1 quart but if you are giving it for a gift then you can decide how much you want to give them and the size jar you need to use. For example if you want to give them 2 servings of the recipe along with a cute mug then you will put in about 2/3 cup of mix in a jar or bag which will fit that amount. If you want to give the whole amount of recipe to say a family then put it all in a quart jar or bag.

I tried this recipe today and my husband and I both liked it very much. I added the colored mini marshmallows – very yummy! It is very satisfying and I love the fact that you only need to add hot water. I wanted to try it before giving it as a gift. Now that I know how much to put in a jar I can find some pretty jars; also, I think I will included a bag of the mini-marshmallows as part of the gift.

Just for another idea Jeanne I am putting some in a cellophane bag with mini marshmallows and a peppermint stick (for stirring) in a huge mug for my teenage grandson for Christmas. He loves hot cocoa and peppermint.

My husband doesn’t like the mocha and cocoa flavors together. Can you leave out the coffee to just have a cocoa mix? Does this make a good cocoa mix, or do you have a better one?

You probably could just leave out the coffee because it is mostly for flavor. Here is the Hot Chocolate Mix that I usually use though and you might like it better even. I adjust the measurements in this all the time for example sometimes I add an extra package of pudding or extra creamer etc. So you can adapt it to your own taste.
