Apple Pie Tacos Easy Dessert Recipe

Tips:

  • When filling these or regular tacos, turn a muffin tin upside down and set the cooked tortillas in it to hold while filling.
  • To make chopping the apples easier, you can chop them in the can of pie filling. Leave the filling in the can and press the apples against the side of the can with a knife.

Apple Pie Tacos Recipe

6 large flour tortillas
oil for frying
2/3 cup sugar
2 tsp. cinnamon
1 (12 oz.) can apple pie filling, chopped coarsely*
*(Or you can use your own homemade pie filling or our recipe for Grandma’s Apple Pie.)

Recipe Instructions:

You can make these Apple Pie Tacos any size you want. If you want smaller ones, use a 3 1/2 inch circle cutter and cut circles out of the flour tortillas. Be sure to fry the scraps and sprinkle with cinnamon and sugar for a tasty treat that prevents waste.

Mix the sugar and cinnamon and set aside. Heat oil to fry the tortillas. The oil is ready when a scrap piece of tortilla bubbles after being placed in the oil. Using tongs and a fork, place a tortilla in the oil. Fold it in half and let it fry it until it is golden brown. Flip and fry the other side. Immediately remove it from the oil and shake in a bag with cinnamon and sugar or sprinkle with the cinnamon and sugar. Set in a muffin tin and fill with pie filling.

Optional: Garnish with whipped topping and drizzle with caramel.

These recipes always look so good yum! unfortunately for me, my kids can’t eat any of it. Do you have any tips for feeding children with special dietary needs on the cheap?

You just have to substitute where you can. For me I can’t eat wheat so I just have to eat rice when I can. It’s a pain but you just have experiment and figure out what works.
