I’ve been eating more salads lately, so I’m loving these recipes. I also plan to make that hot dog recipe you had in the newsletter this weekend, which I’m looking forward to. Thanks.

About 2 weeks. You could always cut the recipe in half or you could keep the dry spices mixed and in a packet then when you want some dressing mix equal parts of mayo and buttermilk and sprinkle in the spices from your packet to taste.

Thanks so much for posting this recipe! I have been needing a recipe for homemade ranch dressing. I was wondering if a little dill would be a good addition?

This recipe has spoiled me forever on store-bought. We can easily eat a quart of this a week.

What can you substitute for buttermilk? Can you just add some lemon juice to milk?

For this recipe adding the lemon juice to milk would not work – that usually works best for when you are using buttermilk in baking. You could try diluting down some sour cream with milk and use it. Also using the “sour”milk (using lemon juice) instead of buttermilk in baking will change the texture and lightness of something – it will taste good but the texture is slightly different.

HI! I can’t use mayo, so what is the replacement for it? Or do I just use more buttermilk? Thanks for the help! Helen

You could use sour cream or a little more buttermilk – the only thing is the mayo does add flavor to make it taste like ranch so it may not be quite the same flavor.

Delicious!- I used milk in place of buttermilk and it tasted great! I ended up with several jars of mayonnaise in my pantry and ran out of my usual ranch dressing. I remembered this recipe and may never buy prepared ranch dressing again! Thank you Tawra, Jill and Mike
