This looks so good and easy! Less ingredients and less complicated than others I’ve seen. I haven’t bought pork and beans in forever because they all have hfcs these days. But lately I’ve been thinking that it’s not like I eat tons of hfcs at every meal so just because I eat something with it every now and then it won’t kill me. I need to try this recipe!
Lol Aileen. I am right there with you and like your way of thinking. This was my mom’s recipe and have used it for years. I have now made it so often that I don’t have to even get a measuring cup out or anything. For example I know that 2 fists of brown sugar is the right amount for my taste so toss that in and that a small squirt of mustard is perfect with a tablespoon scoop of bacon grease so it will get easier and earlier each time you make it.
Also I watch at Memorial Day, 4th of July etc. and the often have the good old pork and beans on sale so I stock up for the year on those.

Showboat brand Pork and Beans do not have corn syrup or high fructose corn syrup in them.
Aldi pork and beans don’t have hfcs. Definitely want to try this. Thanks!

What can you use instead of bacon grease?
You can use a couple of strips of bacon or put in come hickory smoked ham or use hickory smoked bar b q sauce although as with most recipes if you change the ingredients the recipe is never quite the same

Just chili sauce. It comes in a bottle by the catsup.
