This homemade baked tortilla chips recipe is a great way to make less expensive baked chips and use tortillas that are still good but too brittle to roll!

corn tortillas
spray oil
salt
garlic powder (optional)
onion powder (optional)
chili powder (optional)

Heat oven to 275°. Very lightly spray tortillas with oil. Sprinkle with seasonings if desired. Place on oven rack and bake 20-30 minutes or until crispy. Sprinkle with salt and break apart into pieces when cooled. If you want more uniform pieces cut tortilla shells in quarters after spraying on the oil. Then bake on a cookie sheet. If you like flavor with garlic powder, onion powder or chili powder.

Terri, you might try this recipe. They are pretty much the same I think.

      1 3/4 cup Masa Harina
      1 1/8 cup water
      Dash of salt

Mix and knead until dough is smooth. If it is too sticky add more Masa Harina if to dry add more water. After it is smooth form in a ball cover with plastic wrap and let it rest (or sit) for 30 mins. Make into about 15 balls and press each one in a tortilla press, roll with a rolling pin or flatten with hands. You need to roll between parchment paper and if too sticky add more Masa Harina. You could cut apart a large freezer bag and use it instead of parchment paper where using a press or rolling by hand.
Pre heat a cast iron skillet (really do best in cast iron), no grease needed. Fry on one side for 30 sec. then flip to other side. Some say to do 20 secs. and then 10 on next side and to keep flipping until brown. They should be brown and pliable. Cover the finished ones with towel while you cook the others.

You can get Masa Harina at your grocery store and I have seen it at our Dollar General too.
