Vickie asked:

I really like the foaming hand soap; do you have a foaming hand soap refill recipe for making it at home?

If you love foaming hand soap but hate paying for those pricey refills, you’re not alone! Many of us have fallen for the convenience of foaming soap—only to realize the refill bottles are ridiculously expensive for what’s basically watered-down soap. I forked over $1.67 to buy one of those new foaming pump hand soaps just to see if it would last longer. Interestingly it only lasted 1/4 of the amount of time that normal hand soap does.

After some experimenting, I found a super simple way to refill your foaming soap dispensers for just pennies a bottle! It’s quick, easy, and just as effective as the store-bought stuff—without the extra cost.

Whether you’re using a store-bought foaming pump or a reusable dispenser, this DIY foaming hand soap refill recipe will save you money, reduce waste, and keep those hands clean without breaking the bank!

Here’s how to make a foaming hand soap refill for just a few pennies per bottle!

I figured that the store-bought soap lasts about the same amount of time as regular liquid hand soap but costs twice as much. Isn’t that nice of them? 🙂

Thank you!! I bought a foamy soap dispenser because it was the smoothest – wouldn’t look dirty as fast as those dispensers that have little ridges all around the screwtop lid and paper on the body that wouldn’t come off. Now I can refill it without costing me an arm and a leg. 🙂

I like having hand soap dispensers in the bathroom. I probably am spending too much money. Thanks for the tip.

so we could use cheap bubble bath in the foaming dispenser too ?

Also would I use the same amount of dish detergent in the dispenser ? I figure if Dawn can do a foaming dispenser I should be able to using dawn or any other dish soap

Castile soap works the best! 4 T then top off. Drop in some essential oils if you want.

Just a suggestion I read “once upon a time.” Lots of times, the foaming hand soap dispensers are light and difficult for children to handle. (The bottom frequently skids out away from the child as they are trying to depress the top (pump).) I read to put rocks(clean, of course), decorative stones, marbles, etc. to add weight to the base of the dispenser.

In case I wasn’t clear, you add the stones into the container along with your soap refill.

I bought a expensive (to me) bottle of foaming soap for $1.90 and then a week later I saw one at the Dollar Tree for a dollar. I love the foaming soap so much better and now I can have it cheaper. Before I would never buy it because I didn’t think it could be refilled. This works great. Thanks for the tip.

I like the foaming hand soap in a touchless container that comes out when hands are underneath. It means not touching anything with dirty hands. I use Dawn soap in it and figure if Dawn is gentle enough for Wildlife, it’s gentle enough for my hands. Also, on dishes that need soap, the foaming Dawn works.

I’m so happy for this foaming handsome recipe, I go all the way to Walmart to get this due to the price, but I’ve often wondered how to refill. Now that I know because of your newsletter, I’m very eager to make my own refills. Thank you so much.

I make my own foaming cleaner by putting Lysol in a foam cleaner bottle either use it diluted or undiluted. Other cleaning products can be used. I’ve tried melted bar soap and a little water for body wash or handwash. Just label the bottles.

Thanks for having amounts to use! I got a bottle of body wash at Dollar Tree and use it for body wash and make my foaming hand wash for my 3 sink areas from that also!

Thank you so much for posting this. I recently had collected 3 empty foaming soap bottles. I tried refilling and ended up with a bubbly gurgling non foaming result. I used it all to clean out sinks and such and “almost” threw away the bottles. I faintly remembered seeing a recipe somewhere. And here it is on your website!! We go through A LOT of hand soap, I am always asking kids and grown adults, did you wash your hands?? I have been that way for years, lol. My kids say they are going to have my tombstone engraved with: DID YOU WASH YOUR HANDS? 😂🤣😂

    Thanks,
    Mrs. H

Love this recipe, by the way, I use a Dove brand, and body wash as well. Am going to make up 2 bottles asap! Usually I get the mixture too thick, and won’t come up thru the pump. This fixes that. Thank you!
