Gotta love apples. They are always accessible. I like to bring apples to potlucks. I used a wedge apple slicer and slice when I arrive. Arrange on a plate with a ramekin of caramel sauce or yogurt dip. This can serve as an appetizer, side dish or dessert. At pot lucks I place it on whichever table seems scantiest. It is nutritionally sound and good for folks on special diets. When apples are in season I make homemade yogurt and we feel like we are living high on the hog–eating what may be the cheapest healthy treat out there. The only treat cheaper is popcorn popped on the stove.
Ever since I found this site I read it daily. BTW we are not frugal anymore–we simply practice Financial Literacy. Don’t you love how there is a trendy phrase for every thing.

Make this fruit dip to eat with any fruit. It is especially good with pineapple, apple and strawberries. You can mix it with blueberries, too. Once you start eating it, I guarantee you won’t want to stop.

    Jason’s Deli Fruit dip
    1 cup sour cream
    1/2 cup light brown sugar
4 teaspoons Grand Marnier liqueur – (Adam said he used orange juice concentrate instead of Grand Marnier) I also use orange juice.

Whisk together all ingredients in a medium bowl until sugar is dissolved. Chill for an hour, then stir once before serving.

Hi Jill, Yes I am off on Thursdays because I work on Saturdays. I usually have a lot to do, grocery shopping, errands, library etc. I miss being on here every day too. I’m going to make this salad today. Can’t wait. I had to wait to make it because I didn’t have the ingredients. We haven’t been snowed in, but the weather has been wacky. Warm in the 50’s with sun, to cold and windy, cloudy the next day. It’s been weird. But it’s got to get better.

Oh now I see. I was concerned you were sick or snowed in. Will you ever forgive me. I have a letter half written on my table to you and I haven’t gotten it finished yet. Did love the bias tape that was so cool will tell you more in the letter (if I get it done – sorry)
