Bread Tabs

Bread Tabs

If your bread comes closed with a square plastic tab you can tell when the bread was baked by the color of the tab.

Monday – Blue

Tuesday – Green

Thursday – Red

Friday – White

Saturday – Yell

Most bakeries do use this system but like anything else there are always a couple of exceptions to the rule you may find 1-2 bakeries who do don’t use this system but like I said this is not the norm.

Tip: Place one of these tabs on the end of your tape so you can quickly find the end when you need it.

Now that is something interesting. Where did you learn that? Now I”m going to be checking out all the bread tabs at the store the next time I go shopping ๐Ÿ™‚ Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather ๐Ÿ™‚

Most all bakers do use the same code but like so many things out there there are a few exceptions but they aren’t the norm. If you aren’t sure about yours just call the company and ask what their color code is. Also I forgot to mention there should be only 1-2 colors on the shelf at a time and some have the dates stamped on them. These dates are sell by dates not the date they were baked or need to be eaten by.

You don’t have to memorize the colors for the days. The colors are in alphabetical order. Thrift bread store employee told me that years ago.
