Homemade dog and cat treats are super simple to make! Our dog has bad grain allergies. If we let him eat wheat or corn we are ALL up all night long listening to him scratching. These recipes are a great way to make your own pet treats, especially if your pet has allergies!

Homemade Dog Bone Treats
2 cups whole wheat flour
1 Tbsp. baking powder
1 cup peanut butter
1 cup skim milk
Mix flour and baking powder. In separate bowl, mix peanut butter and milk. Then add to flour mix. Knead until smooth. Roll out to 1/4 inch thick. Cut into shapes or use a cookie cutter* and place on a greased cookie sheet. Bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes.
*You can roll into balls and flatten with a fork.

Homemade Diabetic Dog Treats
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
2 eggs
1 1/2 cup beef liver, chopped
Place everything in a food processor and mix or mix chopped liver, eggs and flour in a bowl (make sure the liver is well chopped). Bake on a parchment paper lined jelly roll pan at 325 degrees for 15 minutes or until the center is set. Cool and cut with a pizza cutter into pieces. It will be sponge like. Store in the fridge in an airtight container.

2 Ingredient Dog Treats
2 cups whole wheat flour (or oats – ground in a food processor to a flour)
2 (4 oz.) jars of baby food – beef, chicken, turkey, sweet potato, carrots, fruit*
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix ingredients together and add extra flour or water to make firm dough. Roll out on a floured surface to about 1/4 inch thick. Cut with cookie cutters or a pizza cutter. Place 1/2 inch apart on a greased cookie sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes. Store in a paper bag. An air tight container will make them soft.
*If you have leftover veggies from your own meal, puree them and use them in place of the baby food.

Fruit and Veggie Dog Treats
1 sweet potato, cooked
1 banana
1 cup carrots, minced
1/2 cup applesauce
2 cups white or whole wheat flour
1 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup water
Mash the sweet potato and banana together well. Add the rest of the ingredients. Roll out on a floured board 1/8 inch thick. With a pizza cutter, cut into strips and place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes. Store in a refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.
3 Ingredient Dog Treats
Ingredients
2 cups oats (old fashioned, 1-minute oats, or instant), plus more if needed- see step 2 medium ripe bananas
½ cup natural peanut butter
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 300°. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Grind oats in a food processor or blender until a fine powder.
- Add the bananas and peanut butter and blend until a sticky dough is formed.
- Remove from the food processor and roll out on a lightly floured surface.
- Cut into squares with a knife or pizza cutter or bone shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until the treats are puffed up a bit, dry and dark brown on the bottoms, (they will still feel soft when first removed from the oven). The treats will will firm up once they are cool.
- Store in an air-tight container at room temperature for up to 1 week, in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, or in the freezer.
Chicken Broth Dog Treats
Ingredients
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
1/4 cup honey
1 Tbsp. olive oil
1 cup chicken broth
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1 cup all-purpose flour
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°. Line two baking sheets with parchment.
- In a large bowl, whisk together peanut butter, honey, oil and chicken broth until smooth.
- Pour in the flours and oatmeal. Mix until combined.
- On a floured surface turn the dough out and roll until it’s about 1/4-inch thick.
- Cut into squares with a knife or pizza cutter or bone shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake for 14-16 minutes.
- Transfer to a cooling rack. Store in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
Pumpkin dog Treats
Ingredients
1 cup pumpkin
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 eggs
1/4 cup oil
2 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
1 tsp. baking soda
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°.
- Combine pumpkin, peanut butter, eggs, and oil in a bowl.
- Add in baking soda and whole wheat flour. Stir until a stiff dough forms.
- Knead dough or mix just until flour is incorporated.
- Roll out dough with a rolling pin and cut into squares with a knife or pizza cutter or bone shaped cookie cutter.
- Bake for 15 minutes.
No Bake Dog Treats
Ingredients
1/2 cup pumpkin puree
1/2 cup applesauce
1/4 cup peanut butter
1/4 cup plain yogurt
1 strip bacon cooked and crumbled
2 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
Instructions
- Stir together pumpkin, applesauce, peanut butter, and yogurt until well combined.
- Stir in bacon and oats.
- Use a cookie scoop to form into uniform treats.
- Store in fridge or freezer.
Pumpkin Peanut Butter Dog Treats
Ingredients
2 ½ cups whole wheat flour
2 large eggs
½ cup canned pumpkin
2 Tbsp. peanut butter
½ tsp. salt
½ tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. water, or more if necessary (Optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°.
- Combine flour, eggs, pumpkin, peanut butter, salt, and cinnamon in a bowl; stir with a spatula until combined.
- Transfer mixture to a work surface and work it with your hands until mixture starts to come together. Add 1 teaspoon water at a time (only if needed) to help make the dough workable, but don’t add too much as it should be dry and stiff.
- Roll the dough to 1/2 inch thickness.
- Cut into squares with a knife or pizza cutter or bone shaped cookie cutter.
- Transfer to a baking sheet.
- Bake until golden brown and crunchy, about 40 minutes.
- Cool.

Homemade Cat Treats
1/2 cup whole wheat flour
1/2 cup powdered milk
1/2 cup tuna, packed in oil
1 egg
1/4 cup water
Mix the flour and milk. In a separate bowl, smash up the chunks of tuna and add the egg. Add this mix to the flour mix. Add water a little at a time until it makes a sticky dough. Drop by spoonfuls on a greased cookie sheet about an inch apart. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20-25 minutes.
