Homemade Tooth Whitener – Teeth tips

homemade teeth whitener tips

The main ingredient in tooth whiteners is hydrogen peroxide, which is very inexpensive.

Just rub your teeth with the peroxide (using a q-tip), wait 30 seconds and then brush.

You also can swish your mouth with half water and half peroxide for 30 seconds. Then brush.

Tip:

When brushing your teeth, you don’t need to put toothpaste across all of the bristles. Just put a dot of toothpaste on your brush the size of a small pea.

If the bristles of your toothbrush get frayed and worn quickly you are probably brushing way too hard. Scrubbing your teeth really hard is not good for them and can damage your gums so take it easy and brush gently.

Thanks for this tip. Was wondering what to use that didn’t cost a fortune.

Thank you for providing this information. I was a long time dental assistant but many people don’t know this. In order to keep the oral bacteria balanced do not use straight peroxide as a rinse. Love this site.

Yes it is best to use 1/2 water and 1/2 peroxide.

How are you doing Barb? Hope you are feeling better. Can you believe the warm weather we are having. Anyway I don’t know if you can over do or not but I just do it each time I brush my teeth or morning and night. There really isn’t any need to do it more. Have a super week.

can I damage my teeth by doing this several times a day..?
Or is “brushing” too hard what I should NOT be doing..?
I do not smoke or drink and am wanting those real pearly whites myself

Tami you do need to be careful of brushing your teeth too hard on a regular basis. Unless you have braces or some special issue I am no expert but I don’t you should do it several times a day. It is like so many things just because something is good doesn’t mean you should do extremes of it. If you are patient in most cases you should start noticing a change in a week or two with only brushing twice a day. Of course like so many things different things work differently on different people. You really don’t have much to loose so try it for a couple of weeks and see what happens.

Do not use stronger than 3%(percent) hydrogen peroxide or you may damage tooth enamel
