Glow in the Dark Water

Glow in the Dark Water

Pull the end off of a yellow highlighter. This may take a little working at it. Then pull the wad out that holds the dye(where gloves or you will dye your hands). Holding it over a glass under a very slow trickle of water squish the dye out of it slowly.

It won’t glow until you shine it with a black light. It really looks cool when poured in to a little table fountain with the water circulating through it.

Do NOT drink it! Don’t say you were not warned!

I live in a rural area where trick-or-treating just isn’t realistic, but a near-by town has a college that puts on a wonderful event. Local churches, organizations, and clubs (both school and community) set up booths around the stadium field with simple games (Boy Scouts have a fishing game, Rodeo Club shows kids how to rope a roping dummy, etc) and each group hands out candy. Admission is one non-perishable food item, donated to the food bank, though they recognize that some of these families are the ones needing the food and don’t strictly enforce admission. Just working your way through all the games takes a couple of hours, but there are also basic food items like hot dogs and cocoa available to anyone who wants it. It is very safe (sheriff and fire dept are there handing candy out, too) and all the kids have a grand time, going home happy, tired, and with a bag full of candy. Last year they had a couple of thousand kids there and this is not a terribly big town!
