Here’s an easy and delicious Cinnamon Apple Dumplings recipe that’s perfect for any occasion! Juicy apple slices are wrapped in flaky crescent dough, seasoned with cinnamon and brown sugar, and baked in a buttery sugar sauce. As the dumplings bake, the apples become tender while the dough turns golden and crispy, creating the perfect balance of flavors and textures. This comforting dessert is quick to prepare and pairs beautifully with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Perfect for a cozy night in or a festive gathering!

Many people ask what kind of apples should be used in a recipe like this. The kind of apples you use is personal preference.

Many diehards who make apple pies and other similar recipes say you need to use a tart apple like a Granny Smith apple that holds it’s shape and has various other benefits, but I usually don’t like these. They are too tart and too hard for my own personal taste.

I prefer my apples to be sweet and soft. Usually, I use Gala apples for my pies and apple snacks because they are what I have on hand to use as regular eating apples. Sometimes, if I have them, I will use a combination of apples like the Gala and Granny Smith in a recipe to get a little of both. You can decide what you like best, but I personally use whatever apples I have on hand.

One of our readers, Bea sent this Cinnamon Apple Dumplings Recipe and I made a few adjustments to it.

Hi Jill, The recipe does look so good. I might make it this weekend along with that barley soup recipe you have on here. I’ve been hungry for soup lately. I agree about the apples. I like sweeter ones and usually use the ones I like I use.

    Hi, Jill
    This recipe sounds good!
Even though I do like Granny Smiths, when I want to bake something
with apples, I, too, use whatever I have on hand. And I certainly have
never noticed a difference in quality. There are different
flavors, but they’re always good. If I think an apple is sweet, I add
    less sugar to the recipe.

Great timing with this post! My family went to a self-pick orchard over the weekend and picked several different types of apples. I honestly don’t know what all we got because the kids and their cousins had fun going from tree to tree and mixing the box. Ha ha! They eat good, so I bet they’ll be good in this recipe! Nothing good was on TV last night, so I decided to make some apple bread. I made 12 mini loaves and 4 regular size loaves. I decided to wrap and put the mini loaves in the freezer to give teachers, Sunday school teachers, the mailman, hair dresser, etc as nice little “Thank You” at Christmas. I also froze 3 of the larger loaves for later use. This morning instead of regular toast for breakfast, I pan-browned slices of apple bread to go with our scrambled eggs. Good eating! I think I’ll make the little dumplings for dessert this evening.

No we don’t Crystal but it is a very simple recipe and if you just go step by step as it is written you should be able to do it. It is especially easy because you are using canned crescent rolls for the dough
