So many great ideas come from your posts. How do you keep current? Want to let you know I appreciate all that you do for us rookies in the cyber bubble. Love the cookie recipes.

I got tickled at your question Shirley of how do I keep current because most of my ideas are as old as the hills. You know how they say there is nothing new under the sun well the longer I live the more I find that to be true. I laugh at all the neat “new” ideas and ways to use apple cider vinegar because about 40 years ago I remember a book coming out that everyone was all over about them hundreds of ways to use apple cider vinegar. It lasted for about 10 years then went away. Same goes for how to use baking soda, lemon juice, vinegar. It is like it comes into vogue then skips a generation and is popular again same with decorating ideas.
Seriously though thank you for your kind comment. I love rookies and we were all rookies once. I remember thinking there was no way I could ever learn how to get a meal on the table and have all the dishes warm at the same time and I remember practicing over and over trying to frantically learn how to fry and egg the weeks right before I was married. Boy the mistakes I made that is the only reason I can write about what to do is because I have already made so many mistakes. : ) : ) Enjoy your cookies and thanks again.

For years, I made a simple sugar cookie dough, then cut small hearts out of it to bake valentine cookies. I baked the cookies all on one day. The next day, I melted chocolate chips, and just dipped the bottom point of each heart cookie in the chocolate, and laid them out on wax paper to dry and set. The cookies were about one inch in size. My kids loved these, and needless to say, when they grew up and left home, I still mailed the cookies to them. I would make hundreds of these little cookies (sound familiar, Jill?). Alas, the cost of mailing these cookies has gotten in the way, and the size of my children’s families have turned what used to be a once a year valentine treat, into a kind of physical and financial marathon. Now I send the grand kids valentine cards with stickers inside, but the cookies were simple enough to do on a small scale, and just nice enough for a special treat.

It does sound familiar. : ) : ) That sounds like a really cute idea. I love the fact that they were so small. Sometimes the kids love little small cookies especially in the shape of things like a heart. Great idea.
